Hearn Declines Shalom’s Bet on Eubank vs. Benn

Promoter Ben Shalom claims that his counterpart Eddie Hearn is backing out of a wager he himself had proposed regarding the upcoming bout between their respective fighters — Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn. According to Shalom, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has no objections to the bet, despite Hearn citing regulatory concerns as his reason for stepping away.

He keeps trying to dodge this bet — the one he actually suggested himself. He put it forward, and now he wants to back out, constantly appealing to Robert Smith to get out of it.

But there’s nothing wrong with it — we’re just betting on our guy. Robert Smith told me he doesn’t see any issue. You back your fighters. It’s us versus them. Both sides are getting paid from this fight, and we could simply add a million for the winner and less for the loser. Totally acceptable.

He keeps mumbling about some rule changes and other things, but we don’t need to change anything. Let’s just do it,” said Shalom.

The middleweight bout between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. is set for April 26. Detailed stats and fight info from RTFight can be found here.
