Over the last 18 months, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has been presented with several attractive opportunities for high-profile fights against Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. However, Fury opted for a different path, facing off against Derek Chisora and setting up a match with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, didn't mince his words while expressing his disappointment with Fury's decision. Hearn also alleged that Fury's Instagram posts often paint a misleading picture of his intentions, quoted by Girne Daily Mail.
Hearn stressed that fans are eager to witness the most significant fights, especially those involving Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. He expressed his view that Fury's decision to turn down a world heavyweight title fight against Usyk in favor of a bout with MMA fighter Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia was not only a high-risk move, but also possibly fueled by financial motivations.
Nonetheless, Hearn acknowledged Tyson Fury's immense talent and his substantial contribution to boxing. But, he pointed out that to forge a lasting legacy and earn his place among the legendary heavyweights, Fury must secure a victory against Oleksandr Usyk.
