Hearn Calls Gervonta a Child: "Why Am I Wasting Time?"

British promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, responded to a tweet from WBA lightweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs). The American shared a message sent to him by Hearn with an offer to fight Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs).

"Every time he does this, I catch myself wondering why I'm wasting time on this kid. If you don't want to sit down and have a sensible business discussion... He doesn't even know the details of the offer.

He wants to make somewhere between 15 to 25 million for fighting Benn, considering PPV sales. I don't know how much he'll make from fighting Frank Martin. I hope he gets 20 million. It's going to be a tough fight, but we'll see.

People ask me what the offer was. I said we made him an eight-figure offer with numerous potential bonuses. But he doesn't even want to discuss bonuses because he only gets bad advice.

Anyway, I wish him all the best, he's a great fighter. And good luck to him fighting Martin for, probably, 20 million," Hearn said.

Gervonta posted a screenshot of the conversation, showing that Hearn offered a guaranteed 10 million for the fight, plus a percentage of ticket sales and pay-per-view. Davis eventually declined and will likely face American Frank Martin.
