Hearn: "Al-Sheikh Will Organize Joshua vs. Fury at Wembley"

In an interview with The Sports Agents podcast, promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn discussed the potential fight between Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

"This gentleman named Turki Al-Sheikh, who is obviously a very influential figure in sports and entertainment in Saudi Arabia and also the biggest boxing fan I've ever met. Interestingly, he's now talking about organizing two fights between AJ and Fury, one in Saudi Arabia and another at Wembley Stadium. He's one of those guys who listens and reads everything. So, he undoubtedly reads about my desire to have this fight at Wembley, or how I regret that the fight will take place in Saudi Arabia. I mean, we really should have a more global vision of sport, boxing isn't just here, but two Brits fighting for the undisputed world championship, he will probably bring one of the fights to Britain, I really think so. Financially they can make it happen. But the fighters will earn three times more if this is potentially organized in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia. It's a very tough conversation. If you asked where you would want to fight, most Brits would say Wembley Stadium. But you know, it's a fight for money. It's a dangerous sport and it's a tough conversation," Hearn said.

On March 8, Anthony Joshua knocked out Francis Ngannou (0-2, 0 KOs) in the second round. The fight for the undisputed world championship between Tyson Fury and the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), will take place on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
