Hearn Against Prospect Showdown: "Like Taking Candy from a Baby"

British promoter and the head of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, has voiced his concerns over a highly anticipated bout that has been stirring discussions for the past year – a lightweight confrontation (up to 61.2 kg) between KeyShawn Davis (10-0, 7 KOs) and Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Andy Cruz (2-0, 1 KO).

"Come on, mate. That's like taking candy from a baby. Listen, I could ring up KeyShawn Davis with an offer for Saturday night, or I could hand Andy Cruz over to Top Rank for a song. I'd even cover his purse myself. KeyShawn can't beat Andy Cruz. It's not feasible. You know, sometimes there's a mental block when you face off in the ring with someone. That's what's going to happen to KeyShawn, and I'm fond of KeyShawn," said Hearn.

The upcoming fight for Cruz is scheduled for February 25th – he will be going up against the Mexican Brian Samudio (14-2, 5 KOs). Andy and KeyShawn have previously encountered each other in the amateurs – in the final of the 2020 Olympics, where Cruz clinched the victory by a judges' decision.
