Time to Retire Undefeated? Hearn Advises Usyk to Walk Away

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has suggested that Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), the reigning WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion, should consider retiring while still undefeated — and cementing his status as a boxing legend.

Hearn questioned whether potential fights against the likes of Joseph Parker or a rematch with Daniel Dubois would add anything meaningful to Usyk’s legacy, warning that age and the physical toll of his grueling battles with Tyson Fury might eventually catch up to him.

"I think Usyk should retire. Imagine if he walked away right now — he’d already be remembered as one of the greatest ever. But imagine doing it without a single defeat: undisputed at cruiserweight, undisputed at heavyweight.

What does Usyk gain from fighting Joseph Parker? What’s the motivation to face Dubois again? He’s already beaten him. The only reason to fight Dubois would be to become undisputed in the heavyweight division once more. But now, picture this — you’re a bit older, the fights with Fury have drained you, and you lose to Dubois.

That would be a real disaster, wouldn’t it?" said Hearn.
