Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing promotional company, shed light on the negotiations for the fight between American Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) and Brit Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs).
He explained why Gervonta thought Eddie was offering him $25 million and how he feels about Davis posting a screenshot of his offer on Twitter.
"I never said I offered him $25 million. I mentioned that I offered him an eight-figure sum of $10 million plus potential earnings from PPV and ticket sales. I believe he could earn somewhere between $15 to $25 million for the fight with Conor Benn.
I wrote in the email that I want to sit down with you and explain the potential income from PPV and ticket sales. But he doesn't even want to hear these talks because he's only getting bad advice. Why wouldn't you want to talk about it?
He doesn't even realize what PPV and ticket sales revenue means. He really should sit down, talk, and listen to explanations about what he could earn financially.
If he feels that the fight against Conor Benn is an easy match, then he should be having these conversations. You send him an offer, and he posts it on Twitter. It's childish stuff," said Hearn.
It's worth noting that Gervonta previously turned down the fight against Conor Benn, which he himself had proposed to the Brit. However, he showcased a screenshot of Eddie Hearn's offer, captioning it: "Where's the $25 million?".
