Former world champion at Cruiserweight and Heavyweight David Haye shared his thoughts on the chances of 20-year-old British prospect Moses Itauma in a potential showdown against three-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
“Although Moses is still inexperienced, he has the power and heavy punching ability to cause a lot of problems for anyone. I know Usyk is a genius and the best in the world. But I’m asking who has the greatest chance of beating him. I’m not saying Itauma necessarily beats Usyk – I’m asking: who else has the best chance? Everyone else has tried and failed, but he’s young, fresh, hungry for victories, and seems to have incredibly heavy hands. And don’t forget, Usyk is not a natural heavyweight – he moved up from cruiser.
Punches like the ones Moses landed would take out any natural heavyweight. Dillian is certainly no cruiser, and he hasn’t been dropped like that in a long time. Itauma showed just how strong he is – and did it with such ease,” said Haye.
Haye also insisted that there are no weaknesses in Moses’ game:
“I believe he can beat anyone after his victory over Dillian Whyte, even if that sounds strange. There are no weak points in his boxing – I don’t see where anyone could find a flaw. He doesn’t do anything badly; everything is executed very cleanly. I’ve never seen anything like it before,” Haye said.
In his previous fight, Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) knocked out Dillian Whyte in the first round. Full fight statistics from RTFight – available at this link.
