Hatton on Fury: "Needs His Eyeball Hanging Out"

Former world champion and expert Ricky Hatton commented on the upcoming fight for the absolute world heavyweight championship between the holder of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs).

"Usyk is a very smart boxer, an Olympic gold medalist. Absolute cruiserweight champion and unified heavyweight champion. He's very intelligent. I think Tyson has done a good job with the cut, I think it will heal. I mean, if it opens during the fight, there's no guarantee that it's because of the injury. You know, if you've had a cut, if it was in a previous fight – it doesn't mean it will open again. It's a bit worrying for you. But if it happens, it would be terrible. Don't expect him to stop the fight just because he's bleeding. For that to happen, his eyeball would have to be hanging out. Too much is at stake. I don't think the cut will affect the course of the fight. I still prefer Tyson. I believe that maybe he took his previous fight too lightly. Ngannou was having his first professional boxing match. I think Tyson was heavy in that fight. Maybe he just took it lightly. He's slimmed down. It shows he's in good shape. I haven't seen him doing a lot of interviews where he's shouting about doing different things. I think he went to camp, he's training hard because he knows it's going to be a tough fight. He knows his last fight wasn't his best. He wants to come back and prove himself right," said Hatton. The fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will take place on May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
