American WBC super lightweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) commented on the potential rematch with fellow countryman Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs).
"I will need some time... I'll spend some of my money, travel the world, and I'll be back in two years after Ryan's disqualification, and we can fight again," Haney wrote.
In April, after winning the fight against Devin Haney, Ryan’s doping tests came back positive for Ostarine. Subsequent tests also returned positive results. Further decisions regarding Garcia's career have yet to be made. Haney's team advocates for Garcia's disqualification and the annulment of the bout's result.
Haney's next fight will be against Spaniard Sandor Martin (42-3, 15 KOs). The bid was won by the promotional company Top Rank. The purse distribution will be 70-30 in favor of Haney, with 10% of Top Rank's bid traditionally going to the WBC.
