Haney Requests Weight Change for Ramirez Fight – Coach

According to trainer Roberto Garcia, WBC champion-in-recess Devin Haney is looking to change the weight class for his upcoming bout against Jose Carlos Ramirez, whom Garcia is currently training.

Garcia revealed that Haney wants the fight to take place not at welterweight (limit of 66.68 kg / 147 lbs), but rather at super welterweight (limit of 69.85 kg / 154 lbs).

Earlier reports had indicated that both this matchup and the planned bout between Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero would be contested at welterweight. If both Haney and Garcia win their respective fights, a rematch between the two is expected to follow.
