Haney Ready for Matias: "I'll Fight Anyone"

Devin Haney, the WBC champion at super lightweight (up to 63,5 kg), an American with a record of 30-0, 15 KOs, has declared his readiness to face the IBF champion in the same weight class, Puerto Rican Subriel Matias (20-1, 20 KOs).

"You all know what kind of fighter I am – I'm ready to fight anyone. I'm a different breed of fighter.

All these guys say the same thing, but it's not true. But I really am that fighter," Haney stated.

Haney became the champion in the super lightweight division in 2023, winning by decision in a fight against Regis Prograis. Matias also claimed his belt last year, winning by a corner stoppage against Jeremias Ponce. Subsequently, Subriel defended his title, winning by a corner stoppage against Shohjahon Ergashev.

Overall, Matias has accumulated a streak of five consecutive knockout victories following the first loss of his career in 2020. During this time, all of Subriel's opponents have declined to continue the fight. Haney last won by knockout in 2019.
