WBC super lightweight champion in recess, Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), has filed a lawsuit against his former opponent Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs).
Haney’s lawsuit accuses Garcia of assault, fraud, and unjust enrichment. Additionally, Haney is requesting a review and adjustment of the financial records from their fight.
In the spring of 2024, Haney lost to Garcia. Before the bout, Ryan missed weight, and it was later revealed that he had tested positive for banned substances.
Haney’s father commented on the lawsuit against Garcia:
"Devin is an impeccable professional, while Ryan Garcia showed no respect for himself, the business, or the sport. Devin is the face of boxing because he challenged the franchise in numerous ways: working with multiple promoters, broadcasters, and now taking a stand against doping. It’s all for the good of the sport."
