Haney doesn’t believe his fight with Gervonta will happen

Former undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney doubts that his long-discussed fight with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis will ever take place.

“I just don’t see the fight with Gervonta Davis ever happening.

There are still guys like Shakur Stevenson, Ryan Garcia — those are huge fights. There are plenty of fighters coming up. New talent appears every day. There’s Abdullah Mason. There’s Carmel Moton, Emiliano Vargas.

There’s a lot of young guys moving up. I see them in my rear-view mirror. So I don’t think I’m ‘too big’ — I was in their position once. I know what it’s like when you're rising.

You never know — maybe one day those will be big fights too, once they mature…

But we’re starting with Brian Norman on November 22, and maybe I’ll move up to 154 pounds after that. Who knows,” said Haney.
