WBC super lightweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) American Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) commented on the level of his next opponent, former WBA lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) title contender Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs).
"I think it's a mismatch. Ryan Garcia is a C+ level fighter. But you know, with a name. With a loud name.
He has a name, but he's not on my level. He's not on the elite level. I'll show that I'm a much better fighter. I really shouldn't be in the same ring with Ryan. If he didn't have a name, we wouldn't even be sharing the ring," Haney said in a comment to Fight Hub TV.
Haney and Garcia will meet on April 20th in New York. Devin's belt will be on the line, marking his first defense.
