British super-middleweight Hamzah Sheeraz says he is a fan of influencer-turned-heavyweight Jake Paul.

— Can you imagine a Joshua-versus-Jake Paul fight happening before AJ finally faces Tyson Fury?

— I wouldn’t be surprised. Honestly, I wouldn’t—especially with the way Jake Paul is moving right now, the trajectory he’s on. You never know, mate. You can’t rule it out.

— So you’re a fan of what he’s doing?

— Yes, I’m a fan. I think he could have chosen any other sport, but he chose boxing. You step into that ring and risk your life—so I respect him for it.

And he gets better every fight; he’s progressing. I understand opponents are being picked for him, but that happens with every professional boxer.

— At the 9-0, 10-0 stage?

— Exactly. I know it sounds crazy, but I wouldn’t be shocked if—given the right world champion—he ends up fighting for a title.

I think the only reason people hate on him is that fighters compare themselves to him when they shouldn’t. He built his platform on YouTube as a kid, and now, on his own initiative, he’s stepped into boxing. So, as professional boxers, we ought to appreciate that.
