Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk emerged victorious in his first fight after returning to the ring, securing a decision win over Mexican fighter Jose Obando.
Taking place in Pomona, California (USA), the 6-round match saw Gvozdyk exert complete dominance, securing a victory on points with the judges scoring all rounds in favor of the Ukrainian (60-54, 60-54, 60-54).
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian boxer's initial opponent was scheduled to be Argentine Jorge Miranda, but he later faced Obando instead.
In 2018, Gvozdyk earned the title of world champion by defeating Adonis Stevenson and successfully defended it once. However, in the autumn of 2019, the Ukrainian competed in his final bout, which ended in a defeat to Artur Beterbiev.
Oleksandr retired from his career in 2020; however, he made the decision to come back the following year.
