Ukrainian light heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg) Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) shared his thoughts on the next opponent for the undisputed heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
«Who would be interesting to see Usyk in the ring with besides Fury? I don’t know, honestly he’s already beaten everyone. Fury was the last of the heavyweights. Maybe Wilder. But I think it would just be to add another big name to his collection in professional boxing. So maybe Wilder.
I think Sasha has already proven everything, he’s beaten all the strongest heavyweights – both big and small. What more is needed? In terms of titles, achievements, or medals, Sasha has already proven everything. This is a man who has won everything that exists in amateur and professional boxing,» said Gvozdyk.
On the night of May 19, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) by split decision and became the undisputed heavyweight champion. Usyk is the first undisputed champion in this division since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in a rematch.
On June 15 in Las Vegas, USA, Oleksandr Gvozdyk will face David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs). The fight will be for the interim WBC light heavyweight title.
