Former light heavyweight world champion (up to 79.4 kg), Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs), does not believe that the fight between Usyk and Fury in the 9th round, when Tyson was knocked down, should have been stopped early.
«To say there was a knockout, I can't be sure. When so much is at stake, like in this fight, to stop the bout just like that after such an episode seems too early to me.
So, of course, the referee didn't do it, and Fury basically survived, kept moving, and boxed.
I don't think there was a stolen knockout there,» said Gvozdyk.
As a result of the fight, Usyk won by split decision and became a two-time undisputed world champion.
Gvozdyk's next fight will take place on June 15 in the USA against David Benavidez.
