Gvozdyk Compares Beterbiev and Benavidez

In an interview with vRINGe, former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) compared the WBO, WBC, and IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) with the WBC "interim" super middleweight champion David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs).

"Benavidez is faster. More combination-oriented. They are both experienced. I think Benavidez is more active. In the US, such fighters are called volume punchers, meaning a fighter who throws a lot of punches. However, I feel he's not as tough as Beterbiev. Artur has better footwork. I wouldn't say it's incredible, but compared to Benavidez, it's better because the latter is a bit static on his feet.

If we were talking about a face-to-face fight between Beterbiev and Benavidez, I wouldn't confidently say who would win. I admit, perhaps Beterbiev. But, you know, there's also the concept of 'styles'. It's hard to say here. After the fight, we'll definitely talk again. And then I will definitely say, who was tougher to deal with – Beterbiev or Benavidez," said Gvozdyk.

In October 2019, the Ukrainian was defeated by technical knockout by Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs). Oleksandr will fight American David Benavidez for the WBC "interim" light heavyweight title this summer.
