British Former Champion Believes Nick Ball Has Chances Against Inoue

Naoya Inoue, Nick Ball

Former British world champion George Groves shared his thoughts on a potential clash between undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue and WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball. Previously, the possibility of this fight was discussed by Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, as well as by Ball himself.

“I don’t think Nick Ball has much of a chance. I believe Inoue is in a league of his own, and he has that equalizer power.

There have been moments when he probably wasn’t at his best, yet he still just knocked opponents out.

You have to give Nick Ball credit—he’s a great boxer. But I don’t think he beats Inoue. I know he’s naturally a bit bigger, but I still don’t think he can defeat him,” Groves said.

Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) defeated four opponents in 2025—two by stoppage and two by decision. Ball (23-0-1, 13 KOs) secured two victories in 2025 and already has a scheduled bout for February 2026 against Brandon Figueroa.
