In the early hours of 12 July, Madison Square Garden in New York City hosted an IBF & WBO super-middleweight (76.2 kg) unification bout between Britain’s Savannah Marshall (13-2, 10 KOs) and America’s Shadasia Green (16-1, 11 KOs).
The fight went the full ten rounds, with Green edging a split decision: 95-94 (Green), 96-93 (Marshall) and 96-93 (Green).
Before this bout Savannah Marshall had last boxed in July 2023, beating Franchón Crews-Dezurn by majority decision for the undisputed crown at 168 lbs. A rematch with Claressa Shields was lined up but collapsed when Marshall injured her hand.
Shadasia Green captured the WBO title in November 2024 by outpointing Melinda Watpool via split nod—and has now added the IBF strap to her collection.
