The new WBO world champion, Shakur Stevenson, reacted to the announcement of Vasiliy Lomachenko's title chance, as revealed by the former world champion's manager, Egis Klimas.
Lomachenko aims to return in 2024 to fight for a lightweight title.
Stevenson, brandishing the belt, cheekily wrote on his Twitter, "Got the belt, lol."
Earlier, Stevenson mentioned a potential bout with Lomachenko by the end of 2023, but the Ukrainian opted to take a break from boxing. Bob Arum is planning a 2024 fight for Lomachenko, possibly against Stevenson.
Lomachenko tops the WBO lightweight rankings, with Denis Berinchik in second. He's also eyeing IBF title, currently ranked third, with George Kambosos in second.
Stevenson's last fight was in November 2023, securing a win over De Los Santos with one of the lowest punch stats in the last 30 years.
