Golub: "I Was More Worried About Usyk Than Berinchyk"

Trainer Yehor Golub, who coaches WBO lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) and is an ambassador for Ready To Fight, commented on the bout between undisputed world heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and former WBC titleholder Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

- That same night (alongside the Berinchyk vs. Navarrete fight), there was Oleksandr Usyk's fight against Tyson Fury. Did you watch the bout?

- Yes.

- Were you very worried?

- I was more worried than for Denys. It’s not because I love one of them less, but I knew the work Alexander put in. We saw each other at training camps, as we were an hour and a half's drive apart. We saw each other in the sauna all the time. I knew Alexander would be as prepared and motivated as possible. I saw that he would do it.

On the night of May 19, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. The Ukrainian is the first undisputed champion in this division since November 13, 1999, when Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in their rematch.
