According to insider Dan Rafael, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis was in talks to face Jake Paul in what could have been a massive crossover bout. The fight was likely next on Davis’s schedule—if he had beaten WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach.
However, that bout ended in a draw, triggering a contractually obligated rematch, which has now taken priority.
Before facing Roach, Gervonta made it clear: he was ready to beat up Jake Paul—despite Paul competing in the heavyweight division in his most recent fight.
The rematch between Davis and Roach is now set for June 21 in Las Vegas, as confirmed by both Dan Rafael and fellow insider Chris Mannix.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul has declared his interest in fighting Anthony Joshua—a statement followed by a phone call between the two, fueling even more speculation.
