Is Gervonta Retiring? One of His Coaches Answers

Trainer Kenny Ellis—who works with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis—reacted to reports that his fighter has called it a career.

“As always, fake news,” Ellis wrote, before replying to a social-media comment with a repost and the caption:

“Rick Glaser is the source, but come on, folks—what are we doing?”

Davis’s next fight is currently slated for 16 August against WBA super featherweight titleholder Lamont Roach Jr. (25-1-2, 10 KOs). At the moment, Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is under arrest on domestic-violence charges, and the bout could be moved to autumn 2025.
