WBA lightweight champion (61.2 kg) Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) doesn't consider himself the favorite in the fight against Frank Martin (18-0, 12 KOs), which will take place on June 15 in Las Vegas.
"I look forward to getting back in the ring. I was out of the game for a long time, was in jail, under house arrest, and so on. I'm just happy to be back where I feel comfortable.
I could be flawless and do what I do best - give you fans the best boxing you've seen to date.
Come June 15. I'm not ready to talk. Martin is the favorite. They think they're thugs and all that crap, but I'm telling you, he's up against a different beast.
No one can save him on June 15, I've gathered a lot of crap. I'm going to unleash it all on him. See you on June 15.
I'm just happy to be back and happy to fight at the MGM. This will probably be my second fight here, but I remember coming to watch Floyd fight Cotto, and I walked in through the front door, saw all the celebrities and so on. I saw mink coats and all that stuff.
I've always wanted to be a part of something like that, so I'm just grateful to be here and also to be on this card with another young lion like me, and to give the fans what they want to see," said Davis.
For Gervonta, the fight against Martin is the first since defeating Ryan Garcia in the summer of 2023.
