WBA lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) has received permission to go to the Olympics in Paris, France, to support and consult the American boxing team.
On Tuesday, Baltimore District Judge Althea Handy granted the boxer's request for the trip from July 19 to August 12. The decision was not immediate. A hearing was held on July 10 at Davis' request. The boxer's attorney argued that his client had complied with all probation requirements and noted that Davis would not receive monetary compensation for his services. The judge stated that she did not want to grant permission without a detailed travel itinerary. The hearing ended without a decision being made. It's important to note that Gervonta is not allowed to leave the US due to being on probation following a 2020 car accident in Baltimore that injured four people.
