WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) has blasted Turki Alalshikh, the head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, calling him an incompetent organizer in the world of boxing tournaments.
"You all saw how this guy was peeking at the judges' scorecards during the Adamés vs. Shiraz fight. They were saying, 'We need to get Tank over here.' Dude, I know what you're planning to do.
Not all money is good money. No. I simply don’t like how this guy comes into a sport he knows absolutely nothing about. Absolutely nothing.
Everyone’s heading there. He’s constantly going, 'I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that.' But you don’t know a thing about this sport. How do you expect to pull it off?"
Davis made these comments following the group photo of boxers, promoters, and Turki Al Ash-Sheikh taken at The Ring’s 2024 Boxing Awards ceremony.
On March 1, Gervonta Davis is set to defend his title against Lamont Roach. Detailed analytics and fight statistics from Ready to Fight are available via this link.
