American boxer Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) has expressed his desire for a rematch against Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs). Ryan's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has set a condition for organizing such a bout:
"It's possible at 140 pounds," said Oscar De La Hoya to ESNEWS.
WBC champion in the same weight class, Regis Prograis, has also spoken about a potential fight with Gervonta:
"It has to be a fight at the first super lightweight. No catchweight. I've already said I want to be the Marvin Hagler of my division, so it's 140 pounds.
When you talk about the face of boxing, you're choosing between Gervonta and Canelo. Since I can't fight Canelo, my choice is Gervonta," stated Prograis.
Regis Prograis is set to face Devin Haney on December 9th in the super lightweight division. Ryan Garcia lost to Gervonta Davis in the spring of 2023 via a knockout in the 7th round and has since moved up to the super lightweight category. Davis has announced that his next fight will take place in early 2024.
