Garcia vs. Romero to Be a Title Fight

The upcoming clash between Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) and Rolando "Rolly" Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) will now have the WBA Regular welterweight title at stake, according to The Ring.

The fight is scheduled for May in the U.S., though the exact venue has yet to be announced. This will be Romero’s debut at 147 pounds, while Garcia will be officially competing for his first title in the welterweight division.

The current full WBA welterweight champion is Eimantas Stanionis, who is set for a unification bout with IBF champion Jaron Ennis on April 12.

If Garcia secures victory, a rematch with Devin Haney could take place in October. The pair first fought in April 2024, with Garcia winning by decision—though the result was later overturned due to his failed doping test.

Romero last fought in September 2024, securing a unanimous decision win over Manuel James. Now, he looks to make an immediate impact at 147 pounds with a shot at a world title.
