Garcia Moves to Welterweight

American boxer Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) has announced that he can no longer maintain his weight in the super lightweight division (up to 63.5 kg) and is moving up to welterweight (up to 66.7 kg).

"I don't think Tank will beat Frank Martin, but even if he did, he wouldn't fight me because I'm moving up in weight. I can't fit into super lightweight; I'm heading to welterweight. I can't make the damn 63.5 kg. I've technically never fought at this weight. My body won't let me drop below 65 kg, it's impossible. I've tried every technique," Garcia stated.

On April 21st, Ryan Garcia defeated WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). Despite the loss, Devin remains the WBC champion, as Ryan did not meet the weight requirements and was ineligible for the title.
