Garcia Fails to Make Weight Before Haney Bout, Ineligible for Title

American super lightweight boxer Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) failed to make the weight limit for his upcoming fight against WBC champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

According to insider Dan Rafael, Garcia weighed in at 143.2 pounds, over the super lightweight limit of 140 pounds, during the preliminary weigh-in.

As a result, he will not be eligible to contend for the title in this bout and will not become champion even if he wins. The parties are currently negotiating on how to proceed.
