Fury: "Usyk Was Knocked Down by Dubois"

In an interview with BoxNation, WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) commented on the upcoming bout for the undisputed heavyweight title against the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

"I will destroy him. He's done his job, and I'm not here to pick him apart. He's the undisputed cruiserweight champion and the unified heavyweight champion. He fought against four opponents in heavyweight: Witherspoon, Chisora, Joshua, Dubois. They share common traits – methodical, slow fighters. To get ahead, they had to raise their hands. They do, and they have the same slow style. All of them are looking for that one punch to knock a man out, but they don’t do it right, and he managed to beat this style four times.

I believe in myself. I don't think my punch is much faster than his. Yes, I move better than he does, I'm stronger than him, and so on, but if he was in heavyweight, then he might have the agility to move better, but since then, he's gained weight. I've never met a super heavyweight who was ever as fast as me.

Even in cruiserweight, he was always complaining to the referees about getting hit below the belt when it wasn't true. He got hit in the body by Dubois and was knocked down. He was lying on the floor, shaking like a little bitch. He took a four-five minute break, the referee gave him every chance in the world, he should have been counted out about 59 times, but I'm not here to throw words at him, I'm just stating the facts. It's a fact that he was knocked down by a body shot," said Fury.

In August last year, Usyk knocked out Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) in the 9th round. Notably, the fight was remembered for a moment in the fifth round when Dubois landed a blow below the body, and Usyk ended up on the canvas. This led to controversies in the boxing community.

The fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
