British promoter Frank Warren, who is the co-promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), disclosed that both he and his client were in Anthony Joshua's (28-3, 25 KOs) corner during his match against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou (0-2).
"Tyson was very impressed. I was sitting next to him, and he was servering for Joshua. We both supported Anthony and wanted him to win. He did it with style.
Anthony has a new coach in Ben Davison. Clearly, he's taking the best from him.
Joshua has had two fights in Saudi Arabia that brought him back into public attention. The first was against Otto Wallin, and the second against Francis Ngannou. He did what he had to do.
For me, Tyson is the number one in the heavyweight division. Fury is the lineal champion; he has reached the highest level.
On May 18, we'll find out who the best heavyweight boxer is when Tyson meets the guy who beat Joshua twice," Warren said.
Joshua knocked out Ngannou in the second round, sending his opponent to the canvas three times. Fury defeated Ngannou by a split decision in 2023.
