Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) has shared when he will begin training for his rematch against the unified WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).
"I don't plan on heading to training camp for a while. There are about 13 weeks left until my fight, so I’ll probably start training in about six weeks. I usually train for six to seven weeks before a fight, and I’ll be ready to showcase everything I can do on fight night. I’m looking forward to December 21st, let’s go!"
Fury also outlined his strategy for the rematch:
"Tactics against Usyk? It's very simple. I just need to knock the ugly guy out, and I’m not hiding it. I think I outboxed him last time and believe I won, but this time I won’t leave it to the judges.
I remember how well I performed against Wilder in the first fight and didn’t get the decision. The same happened a few months ago. In the second fight with Wilder, I went for the knockout, and everyone knows what happened. In the second fight with Usyk, I’m going to knock the ugly guy out," Fury stated.
In May, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years. The rematch is scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
