In an interview with BoxNation, WBC heavyweight (over 90,7 kg) champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) shared his thoughts on WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).
– He's the British killer at the moment, isn't he? He's dealt with Dubois, Chisora, AJ. The only one standing in his way from taking full control over Europe is the Gypsy King.
– You've beaten Ukrainians before.
– And do you remember the last Ukrainian who went through all the Brits?
– Yes, Vladimir (Klitschko).
– Vladimir, and no one could beat him, and they sent the Gypsy King, sent him 'cannon fodder.' I watched his fights; there was 'cannon fodder.' And I, a young boxer, walked away from the ring with all the belts, and I did it again, and again, and again.
I've been saying this for many years ago. I remember it was said at a press conference in 2015, that there's no one else, I am chosen, and it's true. When it's time to fight the best, against the boss at this level, in this game – send me.
– Do you think you'll destroy Alexander?
– Yes.
The fight for the title of undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
