WBC super heavyweight champion (over 90.7 kg) Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) commented on a potential fight with former world champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs).
"For some reason, over the last five years, something always got in the way of meeting Joshua. And this time, the fight for the absolute world heavyweight title stands between us. So, it's on the back burner for now. Great performance from AJ. Fantastic.
But, unfortunately, I have to fry a bigger fish with Usyk on May 18th. And in October, we'll have the rematch.
So, if Joshua and I are still available after that, let's make it happen," said Fury.
On March 8th, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a fight took place between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou (0-2, 0 KOs). Already in the first round, Joshua sent his opponent to the canvas with a knockdown. In the second, the Brit finished the confrontation by sending his opponent to a second knockdown, then followed up with a decisive blow.
The fight for the absolute heavyweight championship between Tyson Fury and the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titles Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
