Did Fury Knockout Opetai? Manager's Revelations

Spencer Brown, the manager of WBC super heavyweight champion British boxer Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), addressed rumors about a knockout during his client's sparring session against former cruiserweight champion Jai Opetai (24-0, 19 KOs), as some sources claim.

"If you could see them spar, it would be incredible. Let me put it straight: Jai Opetai came over, and he’s a wonderful guy with a great team, he’s a fantastic fighter, but all this nonsense about him knocking out Tyson is just rubbish.

I think he was somewhat shocked by how good Tyson really is," Brown said.

Fury and Opetai sparred ahead of Fury’s scheduled fight against Oleksandr Usyk, which was set for February 17th. Jai left the camp a few days after arriving—according to one report, due to knocking out the Brit, and according to another, because he didn’t find the sparring partners he needed.

The fight was eventually postponed to May 18th due to an injury to the Brit.
