WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury commented on a possible fight with WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk.
"Actually, Usyk is older than me, he's about 35, I'm 34. So it's an even fight. If he was 22, maybe things would be different, but he is old. He had 300 amateur fights, he's tired too."
“It has about 250,000 miles on the clock. He had 315 amateur fights or so, and had about 20 professional fights. I don't believe he has the best footwork in boxing, I also don't believe he's ahead of me in speed."
"Hopefully, we will see the most important year of my career. In 2023, we are waiting for the big fights that the fans are so longing for. First of all, we are talking about Usyk. I'm ready, I want to fight Usyk, whether it's in Saudi Arabia or here in Great Britain."
"And let's give the fans one champion, one name, one person. Usyk is ready to accept the challenge. He came to my fight with Chisora, so fair play to him. It is not easy to understand him, he is a clever con man with very good skills, a champion of the Olympic Games. And he's getting in good shape, so I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
In early December, Fury defeated Derek Chisora early to retain the WBC heavyweight title. After the fight, Fury called Usyk to the ring, where the boxers had a duel of glances.
