Former champion and now boxing expert Carl Froch commented on the form of WBC heavyweight (over 90,7 kg) champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) ahead of his bout against the holder of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).
"Honestly, I'm not sure that Fury losing weight is a good thing. That weight allowed him to bully Deontay Wilder, lean on him, tie him up, and just be himself.
When Fury is under pressure, he can grab his opponent by the neck, lean on him, and use his body weight to get out of trouble. If he loses weight, it might be hard for him. I'd like to see how he performs at a lighter weight. His body and how it looks are the results of his training camp.
Perhaps a nutritionist should step in and say, 'Bring in some more red meat. Eat more protein and do weight training.' I think he now needs muscles. He needs to build muscle," said Froch.
The fight for the title of undisputed world heavyweight champion between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will take place on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
