Is the Eubank Jr vs. Benn Rematch Unnecessary? Expert Opinion

Former world champion and current boxing analyst Carl Froch has shared his thoughts on the upcoming rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

According to Froch, the second fight does not carry the same intrigue as the first. He believes the hype is much smaller this time, and the matchup no longer holds major sporting significance.

“If I wasn’t a boxing fan, I probably wouldn’t even know this fight is happening. The first fight was impossible to miss — every time you opened social media, someone was talking about it. And now it’s already next week.

Maybe I missed something, but this time there just isn’t that atmosphere we had before. We’ve already seen it and lived through it. Yes, you could say the fight was great and you’d want to see it again — of course, you would — but in my opinion, there just isn’t as much at stake now. The only thing on the line last time was name and legacy. Chris Eubanksecured that when he beat Benn. And that’s that,” Froch said.

The rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) and Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KOs) will take place on November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, United Kingdom.

The first fight ended with Eubank Jr. winning by unanimous decision.
