Frank Warren, founder and head of Queensberry Promotions, has poured cold water on talks of a possible fight between rising British heavyweight Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) and Martin Bakole (21-2-1, 16 KOs) of the Congo.
“I’m tired of all this Bakole talk. We’ve seen his recent performances — barely scraped a draw with Ajagba and got knocked out by Parker.
Let him get into that so-called big fight everyone keeps mentioning. Let him win it — then we’ll consider whether he even deserves a shot at Itauma,” Warren stated.
On May 24, Moses Itauma delivered a dominant performance, stopping Mike Balogun in just two rounds.
As for Bakole, he fought to a draw with Efe Ajagba on May 3, and in February, he was stopped in Round 2 by Joseph Parker, having stepped in on short notice to replace Daniel Dubois, who withdrew due to illness.
