Queensberry Promotions founder and promoter Frank Warren responded to the news that IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) challenged influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs).
"Look, if Daniel decided to call out Paul, he can do that, but such a fight isn’t going to happen. Dubois is the IBF champion. Jake isn’t ranked by the IBF. He hasn’t fought anyone in the top 10, so it’s never going to happen.
If he called him out, and Jake Paul responded with, ‘Let’s do it,’ and agreed, then who am I to stop him?
I can remember Muhammad Ali fighting a Japanese wrestler – there’s nothing unusual about this. These things happen, and sometimes people want to see something absurd – that’s what this is," Warren commented.
To recap, on November 15, Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson via unanimous decision. For the 58-year-old Tyson, it marked his first official bout since June 2005. The fight lasted eight 2-minute rounds, and the result was officially recorded in both fighters’ careers.
According to Netflix, the fight was watched live by 60 million households worldwide, with peak viewership reaching 65 million, making it one of the most-watched events of 2024.
