Promoter Frank Warren spoke about the details of the negotiations regarding the organization of a super heavyweight unification fight between WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury.
"Everything is in force. Contracts have been dealt with. We just have to keep moving forward and then I'm sure the fight will happen on April 29th."
"At some point I wasn't sure if this date would work for Tyson, but it's okay. The bottom line is that our rivals have come out and said they want to fight. Now we have to sign the contracts. Everyone is working to complete everything."
"Everyone wants to see this fight. Everyone should take their hats off to Fury because he is the only heavyweight who, like the greats Ali, Foreman and Frazier, fought all the best of his generation."
"This is the guy that went to Germany to fight Wladimir Klitschko, who at his time was the best heavyweight of his generation, had no problem going over there and actually won the fight. This is the guy that went off to the United States not once but three times to fight the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division."
“This will be the first time in my memory that four belts will be on the line. This is the biggest fight in the heavyweight division in who knows how many years. Both boxers are undefeated and both are in their prime. It will be a fantastic event and the highest grossing event ever held at Wembley. I'm not talking about boxing, but in general,” Warren stated.
As a reminder, Usyk agreed to Fury's proposal to split the payment 70/30 with the condition that Fury donates one million pounds to Ukraine immediately following the fight. The match, which will determine the absolute world champion, is scheduled to take place on April 29th at Wembley Stadium.
Both boxers have informed the WBA of their agreement, and the association has refrained from obliging Usyk to defend his belt against challenger Daniel Dubois. Instead, both champions' teams have been given time to finalize a contract for the fight.
Fury has already commenced his training camp to prepare for his bout with Usyk, and the Ukrainian is also actively preparing for the fight, with only one day of rest in his training schedule.
