Mahmud Charr (34-4, 20 KOs), a regular WBA champion in the super heavyweight division, is listed as one of the possible opponents for Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs). This information was disclosed by Matchroom Boxing promoter Frank Smith in an interview with Seconds Out.
"Charr has been a notable figure for some time, as you may know. Anthony's options are somewhat limited considering his previous opponents and who is available in the heavyweight division.
While significant discussions are yet to take place, we'll have to wait and see what unfolds. The primary goal is to identify a suitable opponent between major bouts. On a different note, there are many developments concerning the IBF, the situation involving Hrgovic, and Wallin. We'll keep an eye on that," said the promoter.
Previously, there were reports that Zhang Zhilei might become Anthony's opponent for a winter fight. Eddie Hearn shared insights on when the next Joshua fight could occur, and Deontay Wilder's trainer explained the reasons behind the delay in the fight against Deontay.
