British heavyweight Dillian Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs) has expressed a strong desire for a rematch against former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), confidently stating he’d send Joshua into retirement.
"That sounds perfect to me. They wouldn’t need to ask me twice. They’re mentioning me as an option, but haven’t approached me directly—it’s just negotiation tactics on their part. But I want to fight, and I’m ready to step in the ring again.
If Joshua wants to fight, all they need to do is call me. I’m always ready to face AJ. It’s not an issue for me. But personally, I think he’s done.
I think he made a huge mistake not agreeing to an immediate rematch with Dubois. That was a world title fight, a massive payday, and a great chance to avenge his knockout loss. Instead, he’ll forever be in the memes after Dubois put him face down at Wembley. When I lost to Povetkin, I interrupted Eddie Hearn’s live interview on the way back to the locker room and demanded an immediate rematch. Nothing else mattered until I beat him in the rematch.
Joshua and I will always deliver great fights. We just have that kind of chemistry. I don’t want to lose to him, he doesn’t want to lose to me, and we’re both driven to prove the other wrong. We want to knock each other out, and it makes for a great battle.
Eddie has publicly said that Joshua might fight me next, but whether he actually will, I don’t know. Does he or his team even want it? We’ll wait and see. But I’d happily retire him," said Whyte.
The last time Joshua and Whyte met was in 2015, with Joshua securing a knockout victory.
