Ex-Champion Names 3 Actions for Ryan's Victory Over Haney

Former WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Mora, in an interview with DAZN, shared his expectations for the WBC lightweight title fight (up to 63.5 kg) between Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs).

"When there's speed and power, of course, it's a path to victory, and Ryan has also fought Haney before, so he's familiar with him. Garcia, in the fight against Duarte (26-2-1, 21 KOs), showed that he can both advance and retreat. He moved too much against Oscar, but now I understand that it was the right strategy. He was setting Duarte up for something big.

Haney will have to be the aggressor in this fight. He's not going to fight much on the front foot. He'll use his jab, but the key is long distance. How will Ryan manage to close this gap and work the legs? Previously, Ryan was less mobile, but in his last fight, he improved. A bit more lateral movement back and forth. All this will be useful in the fight against Devin.

Ryan has a path to victory because Haney has already been hurt in fights with smaller boxers. Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) landed a good right on him. This will be key for Garcia, his right hand will be very important.

So, if Ryan can intelligently close the distance, use good footwork, and set up that right hand, because he throws the right only to land the left check hook. Now it's predictable. That's how he got caught by Gervonta (29-0, 27 KOs). I bet Devin will be looking for the same.

Therefore, a straight right, body shots, adding the jab. I think there's a path to victory over Haney here. Moreover, Ryan has a better chin than Devin," Mora said.

The fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia is set for April 20th in Las Vegas, USA.
