Legendary American boxer George Foreman has named the fighter with the hardest punch in boxing history.
"No one can hit like Ernie Shavers. He had a powerful punch. As a welterweight, he delivered a punch, bam! If he hit you, your whole life flashed before your eyes, and you wondered, what the heck am I doing here? Ernie Shavers had the best punch," Foreman said.
Ernie Shavers fought his last bout in November 1995. The "Black Destroyer" ended his career with a record of 76 wins, 70 of them by knockout, 14 losses, and 1 draw. His knockout percentage stood at 92%.
George Foreman retired in November 1997 with a record of 76 wins, 68 by knockout, and 5 losses, with a knockout percentage of 89.5%.
Shavers and Foreman never faced each other in their careers.
