Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather shared his opinion about the career of Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko.
As noted by the renowned American, it was premature for the Ukrainian to contend for the championship, given their recent transition from amateur status.
"I earned my chance. But there's a guy like Lomachenko... How long has he been there, 400 amateur fights? Yes, he's a pro at what he does, but you can’t let him fight for his belt in his third or fourth pro fight ".
Mayweather added that he personally had a long road to a championship fight.
"I had 17 fights in a year and a half - and only then went to the championship fight against Genaro Hernandez. So I deserved it. Nothing was given to me just like that," Fight Hub TV quoted Mayweather as saying.
It should be noted that the highly anticipated showdown between Vasyl Lomachenko and Devin Haney for the undisputed lightweight title will take place in the upcoming spring.
